Everyone's excited for the upcoming Battlefield 4 and it's gameplay trailer at E3 so I'm here to give you a full update on what's new.

New Frostbit 3 engine will support level altering
destruction in HD while online with 64 other players. |
The biggest thing players of Battlefield 3 are noticing is that there is a heck of a lot more destruction going on. The new Frostbite 3 engine lives up to it's previous versions, packing a whole lot more destruction; cover, support structures, buildings, all this in HD online on the new consoles. Destruction in the game stays through the match changing the way you play, sinkholes, buildings, and walls all coming down around you. No news yet if the new consoles will be running it at full 1080. Battlefield 4 will be available on the current
consoles but with only 32 players and at lower resolution.

Tanks now have more options to create a versatile
infantry mower or long range artillery. |

Full customization for your character |
The new customizations has expanded to give you full control to optimize your character for how you play. Vehicles are also no longer limited to three slots, the vehicle customization is also set up for a more tactical loadout that let's you choose your abilities without sacrificing your firepower. You can change camouflage on your guns, character, and vehicles to stay in the enemies blindspot. I'll be looking forward to using the LMGs to fully bring the destruction with the Frostbite 3 engine.

1 second of frame will give you
a chance to counter a knife. |
So there's also the new knifing mechanic and here's how it works; the knife animation starts as soon as you press the knife button no longer needing to jump behind the person. The person then gets a 1 second chance to counter the blade and take the other player out. You cannot counter a counter knife so there is some speculation how this will work, when a player that is not paying attention ends up getting the kill that was initiated by an enemy player. I think the point is that players usually don't notice until it's too late so when they do they should be able to block the attack.
The classes have also been given some improvements, the recon has been given back the C4 like in BF2BC and has a throwing distance. Classes also can "slide" ammo and medic packs to players and the medic has his own medic pocket for faster healing. Squads have been given "perks" while the players have their own specialization, Squad perks are earned by the members of the squad and can be used to help them in the battle. Squad perks are wipe if the entire squad is killed at a single time.
Two grenades have been added, the Flashbang and the Incineraries. The Incineraries will burst into flame to create small radius of fire that can also be useful to provide some vision cover and block tight routes. Flashbangs will impair vision and sound depending on how close they are to a player.
Battlefield is planned to come out this fall, October 9th. Along with the other hit games announced at E3 that will be storming the market. With the new consoles coming out as well, I expect this holiday season to be one to look forward to.
Battlefield is Rated M by ESRB
Produced by EA and DICE
