CSS reads round 1: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Twilight is often thought to be a girl's book. I agree with this. However; it is not solely for girls. It is a book with fantastic visualizations, and phenomenal descriptions. It is not just a girls book, it is a superb piece of literature for all. In the book, the author demonstrates the true power of words; she paints a perfect picture in your head of exactly what she wants you to see. an example of this is on page 209; ""what makes you think so?" His liquid topaz eyes were penetrating" This is only one of the endless demonstrations of extraordinary writing.

Twilight overall carries the message of bravery. More specifically, having the courage to face something when it is a bigger thing than you could imagine. This theme is developed by the author by writing about a city girl, placed in an unfamiliar setting, and being the new girl at high school, finding a boy that is bigger than anyone thought. There are many instances where the theme is evident, but remains present throughout.

An enduring meaning this novel displays is when the mysterious boy the main character meets reveals what he really is. This may not seem relevant to people, however; this caused me to think about secrets I hide from people, and how it is like this boy's secret. This remains constant for numerous other grade 9 students all across the world.
